Summary

We were commissioned to design this private residence by the owners of Soundtree Recording Studios, an earlier Ben Adams Architects project,

Our clients, a composer and a musician, came to us with an existing semi-detached villa in Highbury and a brief to provide a family house flexible enough to offer plenty of ‘work from home’ space, whether for recording, composing or arranging music.

The existing building had two neglected floors at basement and loft level, and three tired flats in-between. Our design created a variety of living spaces at each level including a professional recording studio in the basement, a 'great room' on the ground floor and bedrooms on the first floor. The top two floors house the master bedroom and a composing space with a delightful terrace overlooking the tree canopy.

A substantial rear garden is augmented by terraces on the first and third floor that provide each living space with a direct connection to the outside.

A large comfortable house that accommodates complex ‘work from home’ needs.
