Part 1 Architectural Assistant
Maria graduated from Central Saint Martins in June 2018, where she spent her time researching the integration of asylum seekers in the local community of Poplar to prepare them for their next steps into society. Her vision focuses gardening and living together to achieve interconnectedness between the individuals and their environment. This participation in the transformation of how people interact and perceive spaces around them is the most fascinating aspect of the design process for Maria.
Her practical work thus far is varied, and she enjoys the diverse challenges that arise with different projects. Alongside her studies, she worked as an intern at SNAS Design and Development and helped complete a strip-out and refurbishment of a semi-detached house in St. John’s Woods. During her summer at ZAP architecture, she designed small scale pop-ups and competition entries.
She enjoys the collaborative aspect of her work, and likes working with like-minded professionals who are equally as passionate about creating beautiful spaces. You’ll find her visiting contemporary art galleries, going to concerts and watching movies in her spare time. When she’s not soaking up all the culture London has to offer, she is keeping fit by walking in the countryside, running or doing Pilates.
