Julia joined Ben Adams Architects in 2007. She has a deep understanding of existing buildings, working on projects requiring adaptive reuse. She is an RIBA conservation registrant and an expert in working with historic and listed buildings.
Julia has particular experience in the office and workplace sector, leading a number of award-winning projects and contributing to research initiatives such as the “Office of the Future’ for Grosvenor Estates.
Julia’s approach is contemporary yet highly contextual; respectful of the site, existing building fabric, neighbouring structures, and historic conditions. She has a strong on-site track record, championing design concepts through to completion.
Recent projects include Merchants Hall, a listed building envelope with a highly innovative CLT structure inserted to maximise large, flexible spans. Julia’s work on office fit-outs encompasses large and small projects and addresses modern workplace requirements for a range of business needs. She has led several projects in London and New York for international knowledge-specialists Informa, developing a strategic loose-fit approach to their globally branded environments whilst accommodating local variation. She led the highly successful creation of a bespoke Shoreditch headquarters for creative font specialists, Monotype.
