James is from Winnipeg, where he gained his undergrad and graduate degrees in Architecture. He also worked as a research/teaching assistant and fabrication technologist during term, and as a carpenter's apprentice each summer throughout his degrees. He moved to the UK to attend post-graduate courses and has been recently gaining professional UK experience in a variety of sectors from private residential to education.
Outside of the office, he has been part of a collaborative workshop in Calabria, (Revoluzione Delle Seppie); a research assistant for Stones of Teeth, an exhibition published in Scroope Journal (Matyiku & Connery); and a part of an artist residency for the Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art with Nat Chard & Perry Kulper regarding indeterminate architecture.
He is very interested in the Question of Technology and the contrasted qualities between analog and digital exploration, with a priority towards agile thinking in an attempt to avoid being overcome by Technology. James also likes boats and the building of boats.
